WACO -- Police are on the hunt for a man who they say attacked a woman during a robbery Tuesday night on Waco Dr.

The victim told Fox 44 about the terrifying experience.

Maria Gherghina was cleaning up the laundromat she owns with her brother George Vladut just before 10 Tuesday night.

That's when she says a man walked in asking for change. She never expected what was about to happen next.

"He asked for the money, give me your money, and I started screaming. When I'm screaming, he starts to run, but after that he comes back again. He pushed me and hit me in my face. He pushed me down," said Gherghina.

Maria kept screaming, not giving in to the robber's request.

That's when she says her brother came out to see the man running out, and started chasing after the robber.

Vladut chased the man in between two buildings. That's when the robber shot at Vladut, thankfully missing his target.

Vladut says he lost the robber when he ran between houses on 23rd street.

Michael Acosta works at the loan store next to the laundry shop. They hear about what happened, and they say it makes them nervous they could be next.

"This is next door, ally, between us. So, this is very scary to think about it. We've been scared. Skinny's just got hit just two weeks ago, and another loan company not too far down got hit just before Christmas. So, a lot has been going on in the vicinity," said Acosta.

Oddly, the robber did leave behind the $20 he claimed to want change for.

Gherghina says she would give it back because even after such a terrifying experience she is just thankful to be alive.

Police are still looking for the robber. He is described as short, black male. He was wearing all black clothing at the time of the robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to call  Waco Police.
