WACO -- Elementary students in Waco ISD got a lesson today in how to keep those pearly whites clean and healthy.

The ISD has partnered up with three local dental and health organizations to create a free program to educate kids on dental hygiene, supply each student with oral care kits, and in two weeks offer on-campus dental clinics.

"That would be to examine their teeth, to do x-rays, and to clean them and to put sealant's on. For, we're doing that in all 19 elementary schools," said Stacy Johnson, Waco ISD Health Services Coordinator.

Johnson said the dental education is a free collaborative effort between organizations and the on-campus screenings will be covered by Chips Medicaid or self-pay, but the Family Health Center is working with the ISD to ensure every child is taken care of.
