Waco police still looking for shooter who killed one Sunday morning

WACO -- Waco Police are investigating a shooting early Sunday morning. Police were called to a local hospital where 23 year-old Montrell Phenix was brought after being shot multiple times. Police say Phenix was driving in the area of Forrest and League when he was involved in a wreck. The driver of the other vehicle shot him, and he later died at the hospital. Police say the shooter was last seen driving toward I-35.

The suspect is described as a skinny, light skinned black male with braids in his hair, 5’ 5”, wearing a light colored shirt, and dark pants and was driving a black vehicle, possibly a Grand Am. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Waco police at 254-750-7500.
