WACO -- Dale Adkins has traveled the country, studied in Oklahoma, lived in Chicago, but through his illustrations it's obvious that his home state Texas is his biggest inspiration.

"A lot of, of course western art from my background I do a lot of horse paintings and so on," said Adkins, "So I do a lot of that and I do a lot of children's art. Children doing what children do around farms and things like that."

At the age of ten, Adkins, caught his passion for drawing.

"I was raised in an orphanage, and in that orphanage we had more time than we had anything else. This was during the depression of the 30's and I started drawing. Then I began to draw religious, art for the nuns in the orphanage. And then, just got into a life long love for art," said Adkins.

That love and belief in the power of art is what Adkins wants others to experience.

"You know some learning people have said, without art, music and literature, we have no society and I agree with that because art is so important to people," said Adkins.

He said throughout his long and successful art career, which includes numerous publications in Louis L'amour novels, it's this time in his life that's the most rewarding.

"I am having more fun now, than I've ever had, because I meet people that have enjoyed my art, all their life," said Adkins.

You too, can meet Adkins at the trading show at A&S Auction on October 8 where he will be signing any Louis L'amour books.
