YMCA President speaks out about what police call a riot
WACO -- Waco YMCA President, Patrick Murphy, is speaking out about what police are calling a riot that happened in the parking lot on Harvey Dr.
Murphy says there's been inaccurate reporting about the incident that happened this Saturday, Feb. 5. He says the YMCA rented out its facility for a fundraiser for a basketball team.
The party was cut short when two fights broke out, closing the event.
While the teens waited for rides to pick them up, police arrived asking them to disperse.
That's when police say rocks and bottles were thrown, and they had to use smoke and tear gas before the crowd finally left.
YMCA hasn't changed any rules so far. They are just reviewing guidelines for these type of events to see if any changes should be made.
