Most people who plan on opening a business know exactly what they are getting into. But one local couple who are opening a restaurant are going about it a different way.

Vincent Harris met his wife Chelsea while going to school at Baylor.

“When we were at Baylor we had our favorite local restaurants. George’s for one. Papa Bear’s, Diamondback’s. But we always thought there was a void of some newer, fun places. Places especially by campus," said Vincent.

Driving around one day they noticed a double lot for sale on Speight Road and bought it soonafter.

“We just felt the time was right," said Vincent.

But the place needs some help. It was an old transmission shop a decade ago.

“We drove past here and I didn’t even notice it. Vincent asked me, ‘What about that place? It took me a while to agree but it worked out and I think it will work," said Chelsea.

They know they are going to open a restaurant this year but here’s the thing- They don’t know what kind of food they’re going to serve. That’s why they’ve been asking for the community’s input on the restaurant’s future theme.

A vote and suggestion forum has been created on the restaurant’s current website,

Almost 400 residents have had their say and you can too.

“We thought it would be a good idea to use social media and the web to sort of crowdsource the voting." Vincent said, “Some folks were writing in seafood. Some were writing in Indian food.”

“There’s a couple I like! I don’t wanna say exactly which one I’m pulling for but I’d say we’re pulling for different ones so we’ll see," said Chelsea.

The winner will be announced next week and the Harris’ can’t wait.

Vincent said, “With the new stadium going up, there are some great, new restaurants going in downtown. I think it will be great and exciting for something new to be here just right by campus.”
