Local gun store reacts to President's proposals
Waco, TX — Wednesday's gun control announcement from President Obama was closely watched by local gun store owners and enthusiasts throughout Waco.
Guns-R-Us in Waco said they’ve seen sales rise in the past month.
Especially on items that could be illegal to purchase in the near future like semi-automatic rifles and high-capacity magazines.
They said they already do enough to ensure that criminals can’t buy guns in their store, but even if there were more measures in place, criminals would still find a way to get their hands on them.
“Bank robbers don’t care it’s illegal to rob a bank. Murderers don’t care if it’s illegal to commit murder. Rapist child molesters don’t care that it’s illegal or it’s wrong. People are going to do what people are going to do," said Mike Hammond, manager of the store.
Owners of the store say the business survival would be difficult if some of the proposed regulations and restrictions are implemented.
