A Bellmead man remains in jail after his arrest for assaulting his ex-wife late Sunday night.

Police say Juan Carlos Longoria showed up intoxicated to his ex-wife’s house in the 4600 block of Meyers Lane in Bellmead at 11:56 p.m. Sunday. Longoria reportedly knocked on the door until he eventually beat the door down, saying he wanted to take his two kids with him.

Longoria’s ex-wife and her boyfriend, who police say was visiting at the time, were inside the home. The victim said he could not take the children because he was too drunk. Longoria then got into a physical altercation with the victim’s boyfriend until police were called.

“When they arrived, they found the two men fist fighting, and they were broken up,” said Michael Miller, spokesman for Bellmead Police Department.

At some point Longoria also hit his ex-wife, Miller says. “He punched the woman in the face.”

Longoria has been charged with burglary of a habitation and assault. Bond is set for ten thousand dollars. Longoria is also being held on an immigration detainer.

The victim was transported to the hospital for chest pains, which are believed not to have been caused by the physical altercation with Longoria. “I guess due to the stress of everything,” said Miller.
