Gatesville, TX — Gatesville has seen yet another case of rabies. That makes four confirmed cases this month.
An each case the carrier was a skunk.
On March 1, officers from the Gatesville Animal Control department shot a skunk who was fighting with nearby dogs.
The next day another skunk was shot. Both bodies tested positive for the disease.
Then on the March 13, another rabid skunk was shot.
This past Saturday officers were sent to a house on Valley View Drive where the family dog was 'messing with' a skunk.
The carcass was sent to the Texas Department of Health Services where it tested positive.
The city is urging residents to vaccinate their dogs and keep an eye out for wild animals acting odd.
