Waco, Tx — Authorities have arrested the man they believe is responsible for critically injuring a man in a hit-and-run crash in early January.
Ricky Lee Turner, 30, of Gatesville, is charged with Aggravated Assault and Failure to Stop and Render Aid, after he was arrested last Friday by the US Marshal Task Force. Waco Police Department issued warrants for Turner's arrest.
The crash happened on January 11. Victor Padilla, 30, was riding his 2009 Harley Davidson, when he was struck by Turner, who allegedly never stopped to render aid.
According to the police report, officers responded to a traffic crash at Highway 84 and Speegleville Road at 11 p.m. Friday night. Officers determined a motorcycle was traveling north on Old Lorena Road, approaching U.S. Highway 84.
A pick-up truck, pulling a cattle trailer, was traveling west on Highway 84, and witnesses reported the truck ran the red light, causing the motorcycle to strike the truck. The crash critically injured the 30-year-old lone male rider on the bike.
Following the accident, the truck reportedly failed to stop and render aid, therefore leaving the scene. With the assistance of a Woodway officer, who was first on scene and a broadcasted description of the truck, Gatesville Police Department officers were able to locate the truck in their city. Evidence of the crash was recovered from the truck and trailer.
The Padilla was transported to Hillcrest Hospital by ETMC and was listed in critical condition.
Since the accident, Padilla has been taken to a rehabilitation facility, where he continues to receive treatment for inuries sustained in the collision.
