McLennan County Courthouse Still Searching For Funds

McLennan County Officials are still trying, and so far unsuccessfully, to get funding to restore the McLennan County Courthouse.
The county has been applying for funds since 2001, but has been turned down every year by the Texas Historical Commission.
Officials say, the funds have instead gone to restore other county courthouses who needed more extensive restoration work.
But county officials say they are hopeful, but at this point, they will just take what they can get.
"Hopefully through this grant program, we can generate some money through it and supplement it, because it won't be a cheap deal," said Count Commissioner Ray Meadows. "I'ts over $6 million, so it will not be cheap but we're going to try and take advantage of a grant in the event that we are awarded."
Directors of the presentation program say they are willing to discuss how to modify funding needs for the restoration.
