A group of Waco homeowners and developers are frustrated that a construction project will be put off.
The project is supposed to create an overpass at the intersection of Highway 84 and Speeglevill Road, hoping to ease traffic.
Nearby residents say drivers on Highway 84 speed through the intersection, and as more people move into the area, dangers are likely to increase.
City officials say, the delay comes from a lowered gas and tax revenue that wasn't budgeted for.
"Unfortunately... the project at us 84 and speegleville road... or old irena road, depending what side you're on, is one of the projects we don't see sufficient funds being available through the year 201, to actually begin construction," said Chris Evilia with the Waco Metropolitan Planning Organization.
Evilia says as revenues continue to drop, the organization is having to prioritize what projects they work on.
Right now, he says the most important thing is widening, and improving,I-35.
