Lorena, TX — A district-wide power outage led to the evacuation of Lorena ISD Wednesday morning, around the time school started.
According to Lorena Fire Chief, Jim Menefee, the school lost a phase of power created through a blower motor in one of the A/C units. A smoky odor was detected in the air, so as a precaution students and faculty evacuated. They were held in the gym until everything was deemed safe.
Around 10:35 a.m., the school reported on their website that classes had resumed once again.
No fire was reported.
