KILLEEN, TX — Killeen Police Department is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred just before 10:00 p.m. on Thursday night.
Officers responded to a 911 call at 9:56 p.m., telling them a motorcycle had just crashed on Bridle Drive. Upon the officer’s arrival, they located an injured male in the 5300 block of Bridle Drive. He was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition.
The motorcyclist, 29-year-old Brandon Lynnard Martin, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical personnel at 10:44 p.m. An autopsy has been ordered.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was riding his 2003 Yamaha YZFR6 at a high rate of speed southbound on Bridle when he lost control. Martin separated from his motorcycle, rolled on the asphalt, and struck a 2001 Ford Focus that was parked on the east side of the roadway. His motorcycle continued to slide several feet before striking a flat bed utility trailer that was parked in the 5400 block of Bridle. Martin was wearing a helmet.
Officers with the Killeen Police Department Traffic Division continue to investigate this crash and information will be provided as it becomes available.
