A multi-county police standoff in Calvert Tuesday began 12 hours earlier in Hearne after police attempted to pull over a driver wanted on felony warrants.

"Last night at around 10:25 our dispatch was notified of a pursuit coming out of Hearne and it ended here on Cottonwood Street," said Robertson County Sheriff Gerald Yezak.

The driver then ditched the car and all four occupants attempted to run away.

We're told one was caught and later released.

The other three were believed to have been hiding in an occupied Calvert house.

"The residence was surrounded and lit up and SWAT was called in because it's believed they were armed," Sheriff Yezak said.

We're told at around 1:30 Tuesday morning one person was released. Several hours later two more people made their way out of the house butt the standoff continued leaving neighbors in shock.

"I just don't know why people would do that when they know they're going to get caught and end up in a jail cell," said Charlie Henry.

Finally at around 10:00 Tuesday morning the Bryan SWAT team made entry to the house but after a thorough search, the suspects were not found.

We're told the driver of the car is believed to have been involved in the State Highway 21 bank robbery in Bryan several weeks ago.

The suspects are considered armed and dangerous but law enforcement tells us it's only a matter of time until they're caught.
