18-wheeler accident causes road closure and power outage

An 18-wheeler caused quite the headache in Bryan on Wednesday after it hit an electrical pole.

The accident happened just before 9:00 on South College when an 18-wheeler carrying diesel fuel struck an electrical pole.

Police say the accident not only shut down the road for several hours while firefighters worked to clean up diesel that had leaked from the truck but it also left 1,300 BTU customers in the dark for about an hour after they lost power.

The driver was not injured but police say he was issued a citation for failing to maintain a single lane.
