18-wheeler crash causes big headache for I-35 commuters
Now cleared and repaved

Lorena, TX — An 18-wheeler crashed early Tuesday morning and caused an intense diesel fire that resulted in miles and miles of backup along southbound I-35.
The truck hit a guardrail around 5:30 a.m near mile marker 322.
The fire was put out but not before damaging a section of pavement.
That’s when TxDOT went to work on repaving the affected area, but the resulting closure caused headaches for hundreds of I-35 commuters.
Drivers were stuck on the feeder for nearly five miles.
Detours through Hewitt and Bruceville-Eddy didn’t seem to help the problem either.
Repairs were completed around 2 p.m.
