An early morning shooting at a north Waco apartment complex left two people dead.

According to police, officers responded to a call about a shooting around 4:20 a.m. Tuesday morning. The shooting happened at the Pecan Tree Apartments, located in the 2600 block of Grim Avenue. On the scene, police located two Hispanic males deceased inside of an apartment. Judge Peterson responded to the scene and pronounced the males dead and ordered an autopsy. Preliminary investigation reveals this was a targeted shooting, officials say.

"We believe this is not a random act, that it is a targeted specific event, and we're investigating to determine exactly what occurred at this point. We're carrying it as a double murder, double homicide," said Waco Police Spokesman Sergeant W.P. Swanton.

At this time, Waco PD has preliminary identifications for the two victims, but that information is being withheld until family members have been notified. Police haven't identified who the shooter or shooters are at this time. Investigation is on-going.

Waco PD's Special Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit have been on scene investigating all morning.
