$2 million in marijuana, hidden in frozen puree, seized by CBP

Custom and Border Protection officers seized over $2 million on marijuana from a shipment of frozen fruit puree at the Pharr/Reynosa port of entry.

On Monday, June 3,CBP officer encountered a white 1996 Freightliner tractor, pulling a utility trailer, packaged with a commercial shipment of frozen strawberry, mango and blackberry puree.

The vehicle was sent to a secondary inspection, scanned with a imaging system and then sent for a thorough examination of the cargo.

Custom agents discover 493 packages of marijuana, weighing 2,378 pounds, concealed within the buckets of the frozen fruit puree.

Officers seized the drug, the tractor/trailer and estimate the street value of the marijuana at $2,378,000.
