A Hewitt man has been arrested as the second suspect in the July beating and death of a Robinson man.

Police arrested Shane Tyler Sims, 28, on murder charges early Wednesday morning. According to police, Sims was riding in a car leaving his home in Hewitt in the 200 block of Keswick around 5 a.m. A patrol car, which was set up to make a traffic stop in case anyone left the home, stopped the vehicle. A warrant was also issued to conduct a search of the house.

"Through our investigation, we were able to develop multiple suspects. We obtained a search warrant yesterday and executed it at his residence," said Lt. O'Connor of the Robinson Police Department.

Sims is believed to have played a role in attacking Matthew Ray Easley, 56, at his Robinson home on July 11. According to reports, the attack caused Easley severe head injuries, leaving him unconscious and in critical condition. Easley was treated at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, where he died a couple weeks later after being taken off of life support.

Clinton Douglas Mills, 30, of Hewitt, was also charged with murder for Easley's death. Mills was arrested in July and has since posted $500,000 bond.

The investigation is still pending and more arrests could be made.
