4th of July can be a dangerous day for your pets

Texas summers bring brutally hot conditions that can be harmful to your pet, but on the upcoming holiday weekend more than just the heat can be harmful. The 4th of July, Labor Day, and Memorial Day are the top 3 holidays for pet emergencies.

SPCA of Texas President James Bias says “That’s when we tend to see a greater number of escaped dogs and cats because of all of the barbecues that are going on. A lot of activity that’s not the norm within the household and more importantly with the 4th of July lots of loud noises thing that really stress our pets out and can cause our pets to literally flee for their lives.”

The SPCA of Texas advises that you keep your pets indoors, allow them to hide under beds, or behind objects and make sure that they have an up to date ID tag just in case they do escape.
