Affidavit: Texas man planned to pour gas on officers, set them on fire
San Antonio, Texas (KSAT) — A West Side resident is facing criminal charges amid allegations that he planned to set fire to police officers who responded to his home.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that officers did, in fact, respond to the home of Reynaldo Camacho, 34, in the 1600 block of NW 18th Street last Thursday.
Police had been called there for a domestic disturbance, and later arrested him on charges of family violence and injury to a child, the affidavit stated.
According to the affidavit, two of the victims were his 1-year-old and 11-year-old children.
After his arrest, police notified the arson squad. They said during their investigation, they were told that Camacho had made threats, saying that if police showed up, he would "burn their faces off," the affidavit stated.
Officers also reported seeing two Molotov cocktails in his home near a firecracker, the affidavit stated.
Arson investigators followed up on the case the following day.
The affidavit stated that they spoke with another witness who confirmed that Camacho said that he would "pour gasoline on the police and light them on fire."
An additional charge of possession of an explosive weapon was filed against Camacho on Sunday.
