San Antonio, TX (KSAT) -- A 21-year-old man is accused of holding a woman against her will and forcing her to work as a prostitute by posting her picture and phone number on an internet website.

San Antonio police originally arrested Shon Steen on Monday following a domestic disturbance call at a local motel.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that the call had to do with a woman who was being choked.

The affidavit stated that officers found Steen and the woman inside a room.

After taking the woman into custody, police said she thanked them for "rescuing" her from Steen, who she claimed has been holding her hostage and forcing her to work as a prostitute, the affidavit stated.

Bexar County Sheriff's investigators said they later became involved when they determined that the case involved human trafficking, the affidavit sated.

Detectives said they discovered they previously had been contacted by the woman's mother, asking for help in locating her daughter, the affidavit stated.

It stated that the mother filed a missing persons case in March after receiving a text message which said that her daughter was being held hostage by a pimp.

Detectives said they also discovered Steen had been running ads, featuring the woman's picture and phone number, on an internet website that is known for prostitution, the affidavit stated.

They said they believe Steen was using the ads to find customers who would pay to have sex with the woman, the affidavit says.

A charge of continuous trafficking of persons was filed against Steen on Thursday
