College Station, Texas (KWKT) — Bryan and College Station restaurants have been the target of a recent phone scam.
Bryan Texas Utilities and College Station utilities have reported cases of local restaurants receiving calls indicating the power would be shut off if a payment was not made that day.
The calls have come after 5pm or on the weekends. The caller tells the business that they have a short amount of time to pay their bill before the power will be cut off and requests payment via a green dot card.
Authorities say residents should be cautious if approached with a scenario that doesn’t sound or feel right.
