Autopsy results have been released for the Baylor University student who died near the finish line of the school’s annual Bearathon.

Daniel Jones, a 23-year-old marketing/management double major from North Richland Hills, Texas, is reported to have died from natural causes. The report also indicates Jones died from hypertensive cardiovascular disease with stress from exercise as a contributing factor.

Jones collapsed on Fifth Street near the finish line of the Bearathon, a Student Foundation event that raises money for student scholarships. He was treated immediately by medical personnel on the scene and transported to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, where he passed away about an hour later.

In regards to his passing, Baylor issued a campus-wide email, expressing their condolences: "Because Baylor is such a close university community, we are especially saddened to lose one of our students. Daniel was a bright young man with a strong faith who was very involved on campus as a member of Kappa Omega Tau fraternity and former member of Student Foundation. Those who were close to Daniel knew how he overcame adversity during his lifetime including the loss of his mother at age 11 to a drunk driver.
