Bell County health officials have issued a health alert in light of seeing an increase in norovirus cases.

The Bell County Health District says there has been an increase in the number of cases they've seen in the last four weeks. There have also been norovirus outbreaks reported at three long-term care facilities in the last ten days.

Norovirus is like a stomach flu or 24-hour bug where those infected experience stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. The illness is also highly contagious and prone to spreading quickly. The best defense is to practice good hygiene, especially making sure to wash your hands.
