Bellmead police looking for felon accused of assault and arson

Bellmead police are looking for a man accused of assaulting his wife and setting fire to their home.

On August 8, shortly before 1:00 a.m., police received a 911 call about a domestic situation.

According to a new release, when officers arrived on scene,they noticed flames coming from a nearby mobile home.

The victim told police that her husband, Shawn Michael Springer, had physically assaulted her, threatened to kill her, and attempted to burn down their mobile home down.

The Bellemad Fire Department was able to put out the flames but the home had significant damage.

Mr. Springer, a reported felon, fled the scene in a red 1998 Dodge truck with a Texas incenses plate of, AZ50317. Mr. Springer stated "he would not go back to prison," said the release.

Anyone with information on Mr. Springer's whereabouts is asked to call the Bellmead Police Department at 254-799-0251. Police warn citizens to use caution if they spot Mr. Springer or to call 911.
