Summertime, especially around the Independence Day holiday, is a crucial time for blood donations, as many people are out and about on the highways and such.

So, to help blood centers meet their demands, HEB is helping collect blood for Carter Blood Care. Blood drives will be held at five Waco area HEB stores. The first drive will be at the Wooded Acres location this Sunday. There will be a drive at the Bellmead location on Tuesday. Finally, the Valley Mills Drive, Woodway Drive, and North 19th Street locations will hold their drives on July 6. Each drive takes place in front of the stores from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

As an added bonus, HEB is making this a competition. A trophy will be presented to the store with the highest donor ratio versus employees. This is the tenth year HEB has participated in the event.
Similar drives are also taking place at other Central Texas HEBs.

To donate, donors must weigh 110 pounds and be in good health. The actual donation time typically takes ten to 15 minutes.
