BRAZOS COUNTY -- It's been one week since College Station's deadly shooting and as the community continues to mourn, the Brazos County Precinct One Constable's office is back to work.
Today Constable Bachmann's Chief Deputy, Jeff Reeves, was sworn in by the Commissioner's Court to serve as acting agency head.
Reeves, a 30-year law enforcement veteran, will be temporarily taking over Bachmann's administrative duties.
"This is about Brian today," said Reeves. "This ain't really about Jeff Reeves taking Brian's place. I'm just taking over Brian's duties and moving forward with our offices as Brian would have wanted us to do and just doing the right thing and taking care of the citizens."
While it's too early to officially declare, Reeves says he's considering running for Bachmann's position in the next election.
He's already moved to establish residency and he says he's gotten Constable Bachmann's wife's blessing.
