BRYAN -- A very large donation today, a truck-load to be exact, will help feed around 1,500 families in the Brazos Valley.
The grocery store, Kroger, teamed up with Kelloggs to donate over 1,500 boxes of cereal to the Brazos Valley Food Bank.
Rhonda Behrens, with the food bank, says it's hard to keep the shelves stocked this time of year because there's a huge increase in the number of families needing food and an even bigger decrease in the amount of donations.
"The kids are out of school so families are having to serve children additional meals that they may have normally had breakfast in school," said Behrens. "Now the families will be able to provide their kids with a meal while they're home for summer break."
The donated cereal will help feed families in Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Robertson, Madison and Washington counties.
