Bryan motorcyclist killed in early morning crash

A wreck involving two vehicles on Highway 6 killed one person early Sunday morning.

At 3:31 a.m., the Bryan Police Department responded to a major accident in the 600 block of N. Earl Rudder Freeway, just south of Briarcrest Drive.

When officers arrived on scene, officials found a fatality accident between a motorcycle and a semi.

Investigations reveal the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Highway 6 in the outside lane, south of Briarcrest Drive. Witnesses say the motorcycle was speeding before hitting the rear of the semi’s trailer that was also traveling northbound in the outside lane of N. Earl Rudder Freeway.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Vera Lara-Hooge. An autopsy was ordered by the JP. The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet. The driver of the semi truck was not injured during the accident.

The deceased was identified as Michael Daniell, a 31-year old from Bryan, Texas.

Highway 6 northbound was closed for about 5 hours during the investigation. No other vehicles or passengers were involved in the accident.
