WACO -- McLennan Community College is now offering a new option for registered nurses to get their Bachelor of Science in nursing, a degree many hospitals now require.
The degree is available through Texas Tech University.
MCC teamed up with Tech back in 2010 to allow those with associates degrees to continue their education and get their bachelors without having to move to Lubbock.
With a multitude of health care providers in Central Texas, the degree is extremely beneficial.
"We're really excited the fact that now nurses here in Waco or nurses graduating from MCC with an RN degree, have the option to step right into a bachelors degree," Lewis Snell, Director of the University Center at MCC said.
A state mandate says at least 80 percent of all nurses in a hospital must have a BSN in the next few years, and now that's possible at a state school in Waco.
