The long-awaited opening for the new Cabela’s Outpost store in Waco brought in hundreds of customers in just the first hour Wednesday morning.

The 42,000 square-foot store employs more than 100 employees.

The rain messed up their ribbon-cutting ceremony, but they say more than a 1,000 customers came through by lunchtime anyways.

It’s an 'Outpost' store which means it is smaller than their usual stores, but inside you can still find an archery range, a fully-stocked firearm department and large taxidermied game throughout the store.

“Our products will change seasonally. So, during hunting season, we will focus on that. During turkey season, we will switch to that for a little bit. But, we are now open for business Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays," said Zach Chumley of Cabela's.

The opening comes just in time for the white-tail deer hunting season which opens Saturday.
