A Killeen officer was hospitalized after he was injured during a chase Thursday morning.

At 10:30 a.m., a policeman was patrolling the 200 block of NWS Young when he spotted a stolen car in the northbound lanes. The officer attempted to pull over the vehicle carrying two people, but the driver refused to stop.

The pursuit took authorities into a neighborhood north of Rancier Avenue onto Cole Avenue, where the suspect ran into a police car, injuring the officer inside.

After ditching the car, authorities caught the two men, a 19-year-old and a 32-year-old, in the 1600 block of Duncan. They were taken to the Killeen City Jail. The suspects identities have not yet been released.

The injured officer was taken to a nearby hospital with a head injury and transferred to Scott and White Memorial Hospital where he was later released.

The case remains under investigation.
