Central Texas deputy killed while serving warrant on Thursday

A Central Texas deputy was shot and killed early Thursday morning while serving a warrant at a Burleson County home.

Sergeant Adam Sowders died just before 6 a.m. Sowders and several other officers reportedly entered a rural home, located near Somerville, when they were met by gunfire. Sowders suffered fatal wounds, and no other officer reportedly suffered injuries. One suspect was taken into custody on the scene.

Sowders served with the Burleson County Sheriff's office for seven years.
