A family is grieving tonight after a tragic accident this weekend at College Station's Central Park.

According to police, 37-year-old Timothy Sumrall, was with family Saturday afternoon hanging out when he decided to swim out to one of the pond's fountains.

Sumrall was about halfway there when he went under and never resurfaced.

His family immediately called 911 and a dive team was dispatched but it was too late. About an hour after emergency personnel arrived on scene, the dive team found Sumrall's body at the bottom of the pond where he was last seen swimming.

"This is just a tragic accident," said Patricia Logan with College Station Police Department. "I don't think they expected anything bad to happen, they were just out there having family time, having fun and it was just a horrible accident."

Police don't believe foul play was involved and have ruled the drowning accidental. This is College Station's first drowning of the year.
