College Station has received another national accolade.

The Simple Dollar has named College Station as the sixth most affordable college town in the nation.

The web publication started by making a list of over 100 cities and then measured affordability of the top college towns by looking at the average rent of a one-bedroom apartment. They also considered factors like access to activities.

College Station Economic Development Manager Randall Heye said, "College Station has a lot of accolades and maybe if it was one or two here and there it would be one thing, but consistently being ranked in top the ten for a number of different categories is a testament to the livability and great place College Station is."

The team found, “The average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in the city center is about $825 and that costs lower dramatically if you live just outside the city, with an average rent of around $570.” They also mention that the community events and performances all factor into College Station being ranked 6th on the list.
