West, TX — A nine-member committee, appointed by West Mayor Tommy Muska, is planning the city’s official memorial event for Thursday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m., at the West Fair and Rodeo Grounds to mark the one year anniversary of the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas, on April 17, 2013.
The event is intended for the West community and those who were directly affected by the events of April 17, 2013. The committee has adopted the name, “West 4/17 Forever Forward,” marking the date of April 17, 2013 as a day that will forever be remembered in West, and “forward,” describing the optimism and momentum toward the community’s future.

ABOUT WEST 4/17 FOREVER FORWARD COMMITTEE:
The West 4/17 Forever Forward Committee, appointed by City of West Mayor Tommy Muska was designated to plan the City’s official event, commemorating the April 17, 2013 fertilizer plant explosion. The committee’s mission is to plan a reverent and positive community event for the citizens of the City of West, marking the first anniversary of the April 17, 2103 disaster, honoring the heroes who fought to protect the town, recognizing the losses sustained by the community, and encouraging growing optimism within West residents.
