We now know the name of a construction worker crushed by two shoring panels Wednesday afternoon.

Police say 49-year-old Armando Gonzalez was working down in a 30 to 40 foot hole Wednesday at the site in the 8200 block of Burgess Lane when the soil shifted, causing the two shoring panels to fall on Gonzalez.

Each panel was 20 feet in length and 1,500 pounds each. Gonzalez died instantly.

We're told there were about 10 workers from Elliot Construction building a lift station for the Texas A&M Health Science Center wastewater at the time of the accident.

Officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are expected to investigate.
