Corsicana, TX (KWKT) — A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a woman outside a Corsicana home.
A 27-year old male resident of Corsicana was taken into custody without incident at the scene of the shooting,
At about 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, officers responded to the 1700 block of East Sixth Avenue in reference to shots fired in the area.
When officers arrived they discovered a 25-year old female resident of Corsicana shot outside near the front door of a residence in that block.
Corsicana EMS arrived and transported the victim to Navarro Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Justice of the Peace Vicki Gray was notified and responded to the hospital. JP Gray later identified the victim as Lequiria Chaney.
The suspect and victim had reportedly been involved in a personal relationship. After consultation with District Attorney Lowell Thompson, the suspect was later booked into the Navarro County Jail for a 72-hours investigative hold for murder.
The investigation is continuing by several Corsicana detectives, led by Sgt. Mark Nanny and Det. Michael Dockery.
