Copperas Cove, TX — The Copperas Cove Independent School District is cutting 75 jobs after the district failed to meet a threshold that would give them $12,000,000 in federal aid.
The loss of the grant equates to a 16% drop in overall district funding.
The 'HEAVY IMPACT AID' grant is meant to help school districts with a large military population.
Among the other cost cutting measures, Pre-K will now become a half-day program, an elementary will be rezoned for consolidation and the district plans to cut overall operating costs by 5%.
