In a letter Wednesday to the 12th Man Johnny Football, one of the most decorated A&M football players in the school's history, announced his intentions to enter the 2014 NFL draft.

"I think this was probably the worst keep secrets in sports," said Dallas Shipp with Aggieland Outfitters. "Most people that understand the situation and understand the projections, as far as where he'll go in the draft, knew he was pretty much going to make this decision."

In his short two year career at A&M Manziel has managed to make headlines both on and off the field.

From his arrest in 2012 to most notably becoming the first freshman to ever win the Heisman Trophy, Manziel quickly became a fan favorite.

Clay Jones, Class of 2017 says, "It's a bit upsetting but you know it's great for him because he gets to move on now that he's going to be in the NFL and draft it won't be as much pressure but he'll still have to watch himself because of who is was and what he was able to accomplish as a freshman."

Expected to be a first round draft pick, while fans are sad to see him go, many understand the decision Manziel has made and are looking forward to following his career in the future.

"As a quarterback he was just so dynamic," said Catherine Finnegan, Class of 2016. "It was awesome to see him spin around and jump over people. He was just a really good player and we'll miss him because he just did really great things for the program."

As for the future of Texas A&M football? Many think this is just the beginning.

"Johnny Manziel was not the destination for the Kevin Sumlin era," Shipp said. "I really think it's just the turning point."
