A fiery crash on Highway 47 in Bryan shut down the southbound lanes for several hours Monday afternoon.

The accident happened just after 3:30 when a dump truck trying to cross over Highway 47 failed to stop and yield to the right of way.

An SUV traveling southbound collided with the back part of the truck causing the dump truck to roll and the SUV to spin out of control and flip.

Witnesses who saw the accident quickly jumped to action and pulled the driver of the SUV out. Police say shortly, after the SUV ignited into flames.

Luckily the driver of the SUV was not seriously injured, however police say; her pet cat died in the fire.
