Five arrested in two separate traffic stops for possession of drugs, firearms

Two separate traffic stops lead to the discovery of drugs and convicted felons in possession of firearms.

This weekend, Traffic Unit Officers made several arrest from traffic stops.

The first happened on Saturday at 12:40 a.m.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle near the intersection of 8th Street and Columbus. The suspect vehicle refused to stop and during a brief chase, the occupants of the vehicle began throwing items from the car.

The items were found by back up officers and it was found to be a bag of 1.3 grams of Methamphetamine, a bag of 7.4 grams of Cocaine, and a set of weighing scales.

Two of the vehicles occupants, Kelley Oren Martin, 37, and Michael Alfred Davis, 38, were charged with two counts each of possession of a controlled substance.

The driver, Torrance Demetrious White, 38, was arrested for evading arrest in a vehicle and one count of possession of a dangerous drug.

All three were booked into the county jail.

The second stop happened Saturday at 9:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of S. University Parks Drive.

Officers stopped a vehicle for traffic and found that the two occupants of the vehicle were both convicted felons.

Inside the vehicle, officers found two firearms (handgun and shotgun). As officers searched the vehicle, a small quantity of Methamphetamine and a smoking pipe were found.

Officers arrested and charged Terry Lee Bush, 28, with two counts of possession of a controlled substance (one for the Methamphetamines and one for a Hydrocodone pill found in his pocket) and a felon in possession of a firearm.

Officers also arrested Timber Andrew Coffee, 38, for one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of felon in possession of a firearm.

Both were taken and booked into the county jail.
