Five injured, one killed in four vehicle accident

Four mangled cars sit in the Chick-Fil-A parking lot Wednesday evening following a deadly accident.

Police say a black Chevy Tahoe traveling westbound in the turn lane lost control and accelerated through the Briarcrest and Freedom Boulevard intersection striking not one but three cars.

Five people were injured and police say 86-year-old Gladys Florence, a passenger in the back seat of this Nissan Versa, died at the scene.

"This is a tragic situation," said Bryan Police Officer Kelley McKethan. "I feel for the victims that have lost a loved one but yet I also feel for the families that are affected as the cause of the accident."

This isn't the first accident on Briarcrest since construction began last year so we had to ask, did it play a factor in Wednesday's crash?

Police say no.

"At this time we're looking at it as possibly being a medical issue that caused the collision," said McKethan.

Charges haven't been filed yet but we're told the investigation is still on going to determine exactly why the driver of the Tahoe lost control.
