A former Salado teacher pleaded guilty to sexual assault in a Bell County Courtroom Thursday.

Lisa Marie Wagnon, 48, was sentenced to 30 days in Bell County Jail and ten years deferred adjudication probation for her plea. In the terms of the plea bargain, Wagnon must also register as a sex offender and give up her teaching certificate. Court officials say Wagnon has already surrendered her teaching certificate.

Wagnon is scheduled to turn herself in by 5 p.m. on July 19. She will then serve her jail sentence on the weekends.

In January this year, a Bell County Grand Jury indicted Wagnon for having an improper relationship with a student.

In October 2012, Wagnon was arrested after the Bell County Sheriff's Office said school administrators told them the male student admitted to having a sexual relationship with his teacher. Wagnon was then charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second degree felony, and booked on a ten thousand dollar bond at that time.

The indictment was handed down Wednesday, January 30.
