Fort Hood soldier dies after high speed chase, striking tree
Bell County, tx — A Fort Hood soldier died when he crashed into a tree after leading officers on a high speed chase into Bell County Wednesday morning.
Officials say the chase started shortly after midnight when a police officer noticed the man speeding on U.S. 190. Officers followed the vehicle until the driver hit a tree head-on, killing him on impact. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene around 1:30 a.m.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the soldier. The accident remains under investigation.
