Four men arrested on drug distribution charges near Baylor

Four men have been arrested in connection to a drug bust near Baylor University's campus.

After a three month investigation initiated by the McGregor and Lorena Police Departments, two search warrants were executed in and around the Baylor Campus area. This investigation involves the distribution of high grade marijuana . The investigation uncovered the monthly distribution of approximately $30,000 to $40,000 worth of marijuana, targeting Baylor students as the organization’s customer base.

On August 28, McGregor, Lorena and DEA agents executed a search warrant at 1902 South 12th Street in Waco. Agents arrested Richard Brian Ostheimer, 32, John Sebastian Lofaro, 21, and Alexander Brian Leake, 21, who were at the residence. Agents recovered evidence of a high grade marijuana distribution network. Two weapons, approx 2.5 lbs of marijuana, numerous prescription pills, packaging material, and approx $7,600 in cash was seized. Agents also seized Leake’s 2007 Cadillac STS sedan, pending a forfeiture investigation.

Later that same day, officers from the McGregor Police Department, Constable Precinct 5, and DEA agents executed a second search warrant on a residence, located at 1814 South 11th Street. In cooperation with the Baylor Police Department, Solanga Lakshan Weeraratne, 21, was arrested on the Baylor Campus. Agents located packaging material, a A-15 223 caliber assault weapon, and approximately $3,500 in cash inside of the house. Weeraratne was found to be in possession of approximately $1,300. Agents also seized a 2007 BMW, pending a forfeiture investigation.

Additional arrests are expected.
