Does a handgun make a better Valentine's Day gift than a handbag?

A Texas Police Department seems to think so.

One thing about many women in Texas is they know guns. They know how how to shoot them and they know how to handle them.

"What I carry is a critical defense, so they're hollow point."

Friends Jessica Markley and Shannon Teal were at the 'Tactical Firearms' gun range in Katy, Texas for a girl's night.

"It's awesome, it's great. I used to be very nervous and my heart used to pound, but no wit's just so comfortable," said Teal.

"You relax and some people feel at home on the range," said Markley.

That's the suggestion Rosenberg's Police Departmetn is making on its facebook page.

Encouraging men to give their lady the gift of safety in the form of a firearm.

"In Texas, guns make great gifts."

Sales Manager, Colin Van Dyke, of 'Tactical Firearms' said females already make up 45 percent of his store's clinetele.

They even have pink and purple pistols marketed to women.

So a firearm as a present would be on target, as long as she knows what she's doing.

"That's a great idea as long as safety is first, because there's nothing more dangerous than a complete novice with a firearm," said Van Dyke.

But would a firearm be as romantic as a bouquet of roses or a box of chocolates?

Well fellas, that's when you have to know your lady.

"I think if you get the right type of woman it'd be romantic for her. I would jump at that person and kiss them and thank him so much, because guns are expensive, and I would have so many if they were cheapter. I'd be like, 'Let's get married, 'cause you know me so well,'" said Teal.
