Governor Rick Perry appealed the Federal Emergency Management Administration’s (FEMA) denial of individual assistance for Central Texas counties impacted by the severe storms and flooding between October 30 and November 1.

“The communities affected by the Halloween floods have been left with devastating financial burdens,” Gov. Perry said. “Texas is utilizing all available resources to meet the needs of these families and businesses in Central Texas, but the damage is of such magnitude that federal individual assistance is necessary. I urge President Barack Obama to immediately grant the assistance that these Texans need to recover and rebuild their lives.”

In a letter to President Obama, the governor appealed federal denial of individual assistance and also requested that FEMA grant all eligible Individual and Households Programs, including:

  • Transitional Sheltering Assistance
  • Other Needs Assistance
  • Disaster Legal Services
  • Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
  • Disaster Unemployment Assistance
  • Crisis Counseling
